RTÉ Media Sales celebrates great success at this year’s Media Awards
Thursday night’s Media Awards were a huge success for RTÉ Media Sales, with the Commercial Solutions team taking home two Golds and a Sliver for their work throughout the year with Aldi and Sure. The Awards, held in the Clayton Hotel on 5th April, recognise the work of media agencies and media owners, and are judged by experts in the industry. RTÉ Media Sales had been nominated seven times in five categories for the work that the Commercial Solutions team did in collaboration with Aldi, Sure, GSK, Cadbury’s and Paddy Power.
In the category of Creative Direction / Execution by a Media Owner, RTÉ Media Sales won for their work with Aldi in the Kid’s Rugby campaign. This innovative campaign featured a kid’s rugby panel broadcast as live from RTÉ Studios. The judges were impressed by the creativity and the execution of this remarkable campaign. This also won Silver in the Best Use of Content category.
In the category of Best Collaboration between Agency & Media Owner (TV), RTÉ Media Sales won for their work with Sure during the GAA Football and Hurling Championship. The Commercial Solutions team tapped into the desire for insights that fans have during the game and incorporated live statistics from the game into the Sure campaign. Both of these campaigns were highly innovative and showcased the technical creativity that RTÉ Media Sales and the Commercial Solutions team is capable of to execute them.

These weren’t the only big wins for RTÉ Media Sales as the prestigious Media Hero Award was given to Group Head of Commercial Geraldine O’Leary. The award, whose previous recipients include former Director General Noel Curran, is awarded to those who have made an outstanding contribution to the media industry through the years. Geraldine, who joined RTÉ in 1997, became Commercial Director of RTÉ Television in 2003. This year she became Group Head of Commercial and is responsible for all commercial revenue generated by RTÉ.
